Tim Devore, host for the Hertzler Barn Project, sends photos. He reports, "We
have finished the roof and all but the east Gable end. The wall
downstairs is built. The old doors are on the basement. ... We
still need to install chimney flue and door hinges, and all of the
trim. We are down to about five volunteers.... The temperature has gone from 100 deg last July to 9 last week, and rain to snow. Thanks to all 200 volunteers for all of their help." Click the small image to view a larger one.

Traditional Timber Framing Course, Sept. 12-18, presented by the UK Carpenters’ Fellowship and the Essex County Council
at Cressing Temple. Cressing Temple has a unique place in timber framing. The Knights Templar, a monastic order of warrior monks who defended the pilgrimage routes through Europe to the Holy Land,
established a great estate at Cressing in 1137. Templar carpenters designed and erected the
Barley Barn in 1200 and the Wheat Barn in 1250, now the oldest and largest surviving timber
framed medieval barns in Europe. Download details in PDF format.
