Our thanks to Jan Lewandoski of Restoration and Traditional Building who led a bus tour of almost a hundred people on Friday afternoon. First stop: the Strafford Meeting House built in 1799 on a hill overlooking the village. Strafford is the site of Vermont's first copper mine, operating from 1793 to 1957. Chartered in 1761, the town boasts a population of around 900 people.

Inside the Meeting House, we were treated to a discussion of the building's history. Strafford town residents last month celebrated the bicentennial of the building.

Next stop: The covered bridge.
