Timber Framing Workshops
Run or Taught by Current TFG Members
For your convenience, we also list non-Guild programs that offer timber framing workshops. The Guild does not endorse these programs nor vouch for their quality. The programs are run or taught by members of the Guild, they have requested to be listed, and they demonstrate a reliable and proven track record of successful timber framing workshops.
Look for contact and other information for the schools in the Resource Guide at www.timberframe.org. Find “Schools/Workshops” on the Category pull-down menu, then click Search. Or you may click on the links to go directly to the websites.
How to Be Listed Here
If you want your program listed, please submit a letter or email to will@tfguild.org and joel@tfguild.org expressing your interest. Include a brief history of the program, a brochure for the program, names of at least three former students with contact information for recommendations, and the Website address for the linked site.
Workshop Assessment: Finding the Right Workshop for You
If you ask the right questions, you can often find out more about a workshop than a website or brochure will tell you. For example:
size of the typical class?
qualifications of the instructors?
the type of project you will be working on ?
(size? species of wood? style?)
tools you will be required to bring?
tools provided by the school; will hand tools or power tools be used?
if is a raising part of the class?
the amount of hands-on versus classroom time?
the hours the class will run; are there evening classes?
lodging and meal arrangements?
travel and location details?
workshop facilities?
