The day dawns sunny, and we all hope that the summer's usual showers will hold off till the raising is done. With temperatures in the 60s, at least we don't have to worry about heat exhaustion. The number of timber frame volunteers who have turned out is gratifying and heartwarming, and throughout the day, more and more Gould Farm and Monterey folks don hard hats to help lift beams, carry beams, tote decking and braces, and pound in pegs. The children are enthusiastic volunteers, as you will see in the following photos. Alas! True to this summer's pattern, the drizzle does begin at about the time of the speechifying around lunch time, though nothing could possibly dampen the volunteers' spirits. 
The day dawns dry, at least temporarily. The 5 bents are assembled on the deck, and piles of timbers and decking await assembly.  
Workers, appropriately garbed, await instructions.
